After admiring/researching sisterlocks for 2 months, I decided it was the right choice for me. After 3 years of being a loose natural, I was ready to embark on a new journey. This blog is about my journey to becoming sisterlocked and hopefully it is helpful for individuals thinking about getting their hair locked but have been afraid to take the final step.(Plz do not use any of my pics w/o my consent. Thanks!)
your locks are really nice. I got mine installed on new years eve last year. I actually did them myself.Anyway I only have 250 locks and they are mostly medium. I see ur hair is always curly and I curl mine a bit often as well. what I wanna knw is it ok to be constantly styling ur hair that way. oh by the way I'm from jamaica and although locks are popular not many people opt for sister locks so there aren't many persons certified to do the job.Thats why I decided to do mine myself. I would really like to learn all I can about my locks
@islandgirl trudz. Thank yuo so much for the compliment. My consultant is a licensed cosmotolgist and my hair has been holding up pretty strong. i guess only time will tell. When I had my tester locs installed my hair took all the testers locs. When I went in for my first reti I had 4 that unraveled but they were also the 4 that were the shortest and softest part of my hair... Other than my hair has not shown any damage. I wash my hair every 7-10 days. I have 698 locs. The front of my hair is small and the back of my hair is medium side.I too am Jamaician. Well to be honest, I am half Jamician my father entire family was born and raised there. But here is a link of certified consultants in Jamacia http://www.sisterlocks.com/certified-consultant-registry-international.html also here is the link for the trainees in jamaica http://www.sisterlocks.com/trainee-registry-international.html Go to sisterlocks.com and look under the cerified and trainee section on the website. I hope I helped!
thank u so much for the info. I have contacted a few of the consultants already and their prices are a bit steep I'll check them out further none the less. I hope to attend a re tightening class as soon as I get the information about that and can make it.I notice that my hair already has buds on the ends, they have expanded and they are getting a bit frizzy. I didnt knw this would happen so quickly. I also have this habit of twisting them to tame the loose strands, as I used to do when I had traditional locks. I'm planning to get my blog up and post a few pictures and so on but I'm a bit busy with school work.
